Dude.... DO NOT GET A DELL COMPUTER!

If you are thinking about getting a Dell Computer. I highly encourage you look somewhere else. I have had nothing but difficulties with this system. It does not co-operate with either Windows Vista, or Windows XP. I am considering going with Ubuntu on another partition. To try and locate an actually operating system that works.

I am using a Dell Laptop. It is an Inspiron 1501, with Duo Core Chip. There is an 80 Gig Hard Drive on Board. I believe around a Gig of Ram.

My system runs painfully slow. If I run my free registry editor, it comes up with 2-300 registry errors. Even if I run this every day. This system has not run right since the day I took it out of the box last year.

Truth be told I am considering using my old pentium tower. It is an old outdated piece of junk. But it runs faster than this ridiculous product sent to me from dell.

The first problem I had was the laptop came with Windows Vista. No matter what project I did on that software. The programs and response time was painfully slow. Web pages could take as long as ten minutes to load. Most of the time they would time out. Then I purchased some peripherals for the laptop. I thought it was a range problem on my wifi card. So I have things like two different range boosters. They cost me a total of around $180.00 in addition to my purchase price of the laptop. Then I purchased a medium end digital cam. Only to find out that it would not connect to my laptop. I needed a firewire card for it to work. I had asked the salesman if this cam was compatible with my laptop. He assured me it was. When I purchased a Firewire card from Milwaukee PC. I found that Dell's card slot was proprietary. I had to loose even more time returning the said item.

Then I contacted Dell to tell them I wished to downgrade to Windows XP. They wanted to charge me yet more money to make my computer work. So I went back to Milwaukee PC and purchased a basic version of Windows XP SP2. I formated the C Drive and Installed the software onto the computer. It never ran right. the response time is painfully slow. at times software just crashes. or locks up my computer. What a scam, and pain in the backside. Having to purchase two seperate operating systems, only to find that neither work that great.

Here is what I suspect is the problem. I don't think it is just one issue. I suspect it is several issues. I have tried to contact tech support from dell. Most of the time, I can't figure out what the person on the other end of the phone is saying. The English can be rather broken and the tech support people often don't understand what the problem really is.

- Two Pentium Chips, I suspect that The laptop is not using both chips simultaniously. I think it is using up all the memory in the first chip, then dumping over into the second chip. The end result is a painfully slow system. Often software crashes on me. In many extreme situations. I have to unplug the laptop and remove the battery for a bit. This seems to be the only way to get things to shut down. ctrl+alt+delete is unresponsive most of the time.

-Java, I repeatedly get Java Error messages in my browsers. It doesn't matter if I am using Internet Explorer.which I can't even use with most pages. Firefox, Crashes regularly. Especially if I am trying to upload any html or video to the internet sites. I currently use YouTube for my videos. I am not sure if there is errors in their coding.

-Flash, I have seen critical errors pop up on a screen. Saying that flash encountered a serious problem. Then everything dumps and dies.

-Memory, I can't tell if my RAM is refreshing itself.

In addition to the before mentioned symptoms. I have learned about this duo processor accelerator. It seems to be a fictitious file. I can't find it anywhere on the Internet. Supposedly it fixes the problem of one chip being used up, then spilling over into the next chip. I can't tell you if this works. Because like I said, Finding the file online is not been an easy task.

Dell is only interested in taking your money. I will never purchase another product from this company. I feel that they are sneaky and underhanded. That they let the problems continue and are not doing enough to alleviate customer stress. I have given up on this company for any form of support.

Probably the most frustrating part about all of this. Go to dell's Websites and read the testimonials about the great product they purchased. I wonder if those are not paid staff making stuff up.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the worst. I give dell an overall rating of .5, they suck and should be run out of business. I for one am going to start trying to locate Products made in the United States. This was I can hopefully get greater customer care. If I find that company stateside outsources for products or staff in another country. I will refuse to deal with them ever again. Dell use to have a Reputation of quality products. They repeated what every other American Business Staple has done. Went with inferior products and staff.

Make no mistake about this. Dell is not a free trade concept. It outsources to malasia and india so that they can save money. Paying those workers far less than they would have to Stateside. The scary part of this. How can it be cheaper to ship those products around the globe. while maintaining staff in other countries? This is just backwards and what is wrong with world commerce.

The financing is a system that works against you to. I hadn't realized this, but recently I looked at my bill. It turns out that for the last year, all I have been doing is paying off the interest. I will never purchase a computer on credit again. This bill keeps inflating to the point of not being able to pay it off. So they are continuously making high profits off of me. I am implementing a plan to pay this ridiculous company off, and be done with them once and for all.

You would be wise to never purchase a computer on credit. Credit is designed to destroy the consumer. making them think they are getting a leg up. It is not true. You would be better off going to your credit union and getting a loan. If you can't get a loan from your financial institution. You probably shouldn't be making the purchase on the store credit.

Our website location

I am pleased to announce the birth of our new website. I didn't think that the blog covered everything I wanted to. I thought it silly to use a networking site for this project. I have spent the last few days writing code for it.

The first installments are up and running:

http://reddragonfreepress.bravehost.com/

I have also set up a Video Ring. This allows folk to go forward and back in a ring of the videos for that year.

Eventually the goal is to have it on it's own site. With it's own unique domain name. This will remove the current ads that are placed in the head and foot of each web page.

Reasons for Copyright on RDFP Video

This is the reason why all video content on Red Dragon Free Press YouTube account is copyright.

Simply put:

It is purely to protect the performers on the Video. This way no one can take their content and reproduce it under their name. It has nothing to do with Red Dragon Free Press holding onto any power. The motivation is entirely propelled from keeping individuals on the world wide web from taking someones content and claiming it as their own.

In addition to this, if the video is on the YouTube account. Then it is also available for hard copy DVD. The cost involved is $20.00. I am considering making an electronic file version for $10.00 to promote green living.

Thank you for your understanding.

Dane County: Buy Local

Here is a way to avoid supporting unfair trade practices. Buy from local business! I have maintained for years that the box stores are out of touch. Yes you can get cheaper products, but the quality trade off is awful. It seems like every week there is another recall from a product that was made in China. The product takes away from the job market in the states. Unemployment is getting worse, not better. Because the jobs are going overseas.

I believe in "mom & pop" shops, they deserve our support. The money spent in those local venues, tends to stay local. The trickle down effect puts items on shelfs in food pantries.

Check this link out:

The criteria for this groups members. 1. Must be 51 percent owned in Dane Country 2. Purchasing decisions have to be made in Dane Country.

This is a great idea.

Boycott: Fox Television

After some thought and meditation on this topic. I decided that I am deleting channel 47 from my television set. I have been an avid fan of the Simpsons for years. There are several other shows I use to watch on sunday nights. But I have decided that the monster is way to big and needs to be clipped.

What do I mean by this?

It is owned by Ruppert Murdoch. There need be no discussion on this. He is a dark spirit promoting his conservative views. This man bitched a fit about a certain newspapers articles, then less than a year later, he bought them. why? so he could control what was being said in that particular paper.

It is time for people to raise the bar rather than be mindless drones. I started this whole thread by posting on my myspace accounts that I was deleting them as of november 1, 2007. Then last sunday night, I watched the season premiers of the shows I was holding onto fox for. they sucked. Leaving me with an immediate decision that I will no longer support the fox networks propaganda.

Let others who can't think be programmed by this man's agenda. I refuse to let it happen to me. ok I couldn't wait for November 1, so I already did it. my t.v now has no fox on it. myspace accounts have been deleted. sweet.

Buddhists in action

This story was first covered in the New York Times June 24 2007. The Reporter's name was Tania Leah. I tried to locate the original article at the New York Times. But did find the article archived on another site.

The image was taken by
Tania Leah, it is of Gyatso releasing clams, shellfish and snails. The Buddhists belief that these will evolve into another life form at the time of death.

The title of the article was:
In Homage to Buddha, a Splash of Freedom

In New York a Tibetan Buddhist named Gyatso with other Buddhists from the area. Purchased a large amount of sea creatures. Setting them free in honor of the Buddha. Rather than rehash all of the article.

The following is an exert from the article by Tania Leah:
NEW YORK–As the sun set on Staten Island’s south shore, a Tibetan Buddhist named Gyatso carried a crate of live shellfish down to the harbor. Squatting on a rock, his sneakers perilously close to the water, he submerged the crate, and then tossed the marine snails, one by one, into the sea.

As he did so, he murmured the words “Om mani padme hum,” the mantra of compassion, for liberation from all negative karmas. “The best news,” Gyatso said of the snails, “is that they are saved from the frying pan.”

Gyatso, an energetic and compact man in his 40s who lives in Glendale, Queens, and, like many Tibetans, uses just one name, was among two carloads of Buddhists who journeyed on May 31 from Chinatown to Great Kills Harbor in Staten Island to observe Saga Dawa, a holy month. During that month, Buddhists are encouraged to preserve life in commemoration of Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and attaining Nirvana. This group chose to save marine creatures destined for dinner tables by releasing them into the sea.

For most of the year, the city’s estimated 2,000 Tibetan Buddhists worship privately in their homes; Saga Dawa is one of the few occasions on which they recognize their faith publicly, enjoying a religious freedom not available to them in their native land.
I like what they did, it is a nice gesture. Sometimes the author of this blog can get a little bit on the negative side of postings. I will do my best to make sure that there is as much good posted. This is an example of what truly makes America great. It isn't the leaders in Washington. It is those who accomplish selfless acts of compassion for humanity and the environment around them. This in my opinion is the greatness of a nation.

In Gratitude:

Thank you Stephanie S. for putting this story before me.

Postscript:

I can think of no other greater way to kick off this months blogs. Than to have posted this one first. Just a reflection I noticed after the piece was put together. Our world can appear so incredibly dark. The technology we have has put us all in better connection with events, than ever before. This means that the good and bad news can travel at lightening speeds. I'll do my best to avoid the trap of letting negative issues dominate. I refuse to go the better homes and garden feel good reporting either. I hope you have having a blessed day.
